Great Race! and race results

Thanks to everyone who showed up to participate and to help make the weekend a big success.  And thanks to:
  • Keith Kishiyama for an as usual challenging but doable course that taught everyone something new about paddling.
  • Loma Prieta Paddlers and ACA for sponsoring the race.
  • Course set up volunteers Ken, Tom, Willis, Pat, Veronica, Vince, Bob and Gilbert
  • Yolo County Parks for the use of the Campground, and to our wonderful camp hosts Jessie and his wife
  • Yolo County Flood Control and Water Conservation District for flows that we could run.
  • The weather Goddess for a glorious weekend on the weather side.
We probably ran this race at about as low flows as we can manage.  So 550 is really our bottom limit.

Would love to hear suggestions for next years race on ways to boost turnout for the weekend (should we really promote a downriver fun run on Saturday and the potluck, add a boatercross, other ideas?)

Here are the race results

2 more days til the races!

We're starting to set up the course today....Keith is designing today.  Tomorrow a crew of volunteers will hang the gates, so they'll be all ready when you arrive.

Forecast is for temps in the mid 70's to low 80's perfect for slalom and cool enough to keep the duckies away (we hope).

Releases are projected to be between 550-650 cfs, though the lower temperatures and sprinkles today  may push that to the low side.

We're looking forward to seeing you!  Registration and camping is still available sign up when you arrive.

$20 plus $5 ACA event membership unless you are already a member.  Includes camping.
Up to 2 guests per racer, $10 per night per guest for camping.

See you there!

Registration is open!
Click here to register on Event Brite
We are working with the American Canoe Association to provide insurance for both Cache Creek and the Moke Races this year. So if you are going to do Gold Medal Camp, Kern Fest, and or the Moke Races, you may want to consider joining ACA as part of the  Paddle America Club: Loma Prieta Paddlers for $15 which will cover you for all of those events and save you $5 if you do all four. Click here to join ACA and select Paddle America Individual (or Family) and then Introductory after selecting a user name.

Registration will be online again with Eventbrite with the option of paying by check instead of credit card.  If you do this you will need to select "show other payment options" below the Order Now button and then check pay offline. If you do not currently belong to ACA we will be charging a $5 event membership fee.  This can also be paid for online once you have registered.

The first Ten volunteers who help set up the course on Friday will receive complementary registration when they register online.  We already have a few volunteers, so don't miss out.

See the sidebar for schedule of the weekend.
