Great Race!

While the weather didn't exactly cooperate, we had a great turnout for this year's race, with 30 folks racing on Sunday and nearly double that participating in some way in the event (camping, practicing on the course, running the river). Great fun, great folks and a greate weekend. Many thanks to Keith Kishiyama, Sharon and Bruce Schumacher, Tom Musolf, Ken Brown, Bob McConaghie, and Izzy Izmailov and everyone else who helped make the race happen.

Pictures and results will be posted soon.

See you all next year!

Water forecast looks good!

Just talked to the Yolo County Irrigation District Folks. They are starting to get demands for irrigation water now, and almost certainly will be releasing at least 300-400 cfs which can be pulsed for a higher flow on race weekend. If the weather is hotter it could be more.

Cache Creek should hit flood stage this weekend.

National Weather Service forecast and they are predicting that Clear Lake could reach flood stage by Friday morning. The lake level gauge is currently reading 8.64 feet and flood is 9.0 feet. Looks like there was almost 19,000 cfs in Cache Creek last Sunday (3/20), so all the brush along the banks will be blown out, but I hope it didn't wash away more of the island at the race site. After that we have to hope the fields dry out by may so the farmers will start calling for water.
